June 1 Update

Mary Allyn and I went with mama to see her this past weekend. She's doing good. She looked the best that I've seen her on Friday. She weighs 90 pounds!! She was being very "animated" with her facial expressions and she smiled really big when she heard our voices and saw us walk into her room. When we left that night, I asked her to give me a hug and instead, she reached up and pinched my face - I was so shocked and I stuck my tongue out at her and said it hurt - her whole body shook and her face lit up and she cracked up - she was slyly grinning...Mama and I just fell out too because we've never seen her do that or react that way to something - it was just like old Jodie - she got a kick out of pinching me and my reaction.

Everyone there is very optimistic about her. The doctor has decided to botox her (her right arm and possibly her neck) to loosen her up. They really work her out in therapy everyday - they get her up walking EVERY day. She walked 200 feet both days we were there (she's still being assisted with that walker-type thing that I emailed you the picture) but on Saturday she actually started to LIFT up her right knee some - so that's really great news. Carey (her PT) said she does really good for them holding her head up. She doesn't seem as tight and she's more "flexible" is what I have observed.

We took her and MA to the river on Saturday and had a picnic and then we all watched MA play in the water. That night we took her and MA to the movies and we watched Madagascar - it was really cute. She spent the night with us at the hotel. We came back on Sunday.

Mama, Beth and JH are all going in 2 weeks - that's when the meeting is to discuss her progress and how long they estimate on her staying (I won't be able to go b/c we'll be in Disneyworld). Of course, Mama is going back this weekend.

PLEASE send her cards - the staff are so sweet and take such good care of her. They read her mail to her and hang all of it on the walls so cute so she can see it. I want her to get lots of mail so she can keep up with everybody. I try to send her a card each week. Maybe one weekend you'll be able to go over with mama and see her.

Take care and hope ya'll are doing good.
