Update

Jodie is home! She was discharged last Wednesday. Luckily we were able to see Dr. Fredericks before we left and I am so glad we did. Jodie had 2 EEGs done at UMC on separate dates and they showed “discharging”. Dr. Fredericks confirmed that the “discharging” was definitely small seizures and as a result, has altered her medications.

Hopefully we are on the upswing again. I can definitely see positive changes in Jodie since we’ve been home the past week and we are thankful that God led us to the right doctors.

We continue to pray and believe that God will take care of Jodie and see that she gets the best care possible. We want to say thank you for all of your prayers and concerns for Jodie, especially during her hospital stay. Your prayers are what keep us going.

Our love to all,
Nancy & Jodie

Update

Jodie has been seen by several doctors and here’s what we know so far…

The doctors reviewed the results of the EEG and the neurologists who have seen Jodie believe that an alteration of Jodie’s meds is definitely in order! They have decided to cut back on her topamax medication and increase the levels of baclofen that she is receiving through her pump. They will monitor her progress with the adjustment in medications and then evaluate to see if any positive changes have occurred.

As of yesterday, they did notice a positive change in her since increasing the baclofen.

As of now, she is still in UMC and we’ve been told that she will remain until at least Tuesday. I will let you know if anything changes.

Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for Jodie and her recovery

Jodie in UMC

Jodie had an appointment with her neurosurgeon at UMC yesterday morning and he felt that something was “just not right”. Mama has noticed a difference in Jodie’s response and motor skills following the last severe seizure she had in November and Jodie just hasn’t been herself lately. He admitted Jodie to UMC immediately after her appointment and they have been told to expect to be there at least a couple of days while they run tests and monitor her.

She had a CAT scan and EKG yesterday that all showed normal results and no concern. She had a chest xray late last night and an EEG earlier today but we haven’t heard back from the results. Dr. Espisito also wants her to be seen by 2 other doctors that he has called in to see her – hopefully she will see them this afternoon. We are praying that it is just her medicine that may need to be adjusted, but we’re thankful that the doctor cares enough to run tests and try to see what’s going on.

They were in a “holding room” for most of yesterday and were moved to a room at about 8:30pm last night. She is in room 460 South – the phone number is 601-815-2460.

At this point, we really don’t know much but hopefully we will know more after they run all the tests and try to determine the cause for Jodie’s difference in response during the last couple of months.

I’ll keep you all updated when I hear more.

Thanks for your prayers for Jodie!
