October 7 Update

As for God, His way is perfect. Psalm 18:30

Jodie came through her surgery well yesterday. Doc said the bone fit right back into place and she did great during surgery - they were pleased. They took her to ICU following surgery and we were able to see her at 1:30pm. She looked great - even opened her eyes a little bit for us. We were so overwhelmed with joy to see her doing so well following such a procedure. The shape of her head was back to "normal" and she looked more like "Jodie".

At the 5pm visit, Beth and Mama said she was wide awake - sqeezing Beth's hand and giving her "five". She was also signing "I love you" with her hand, like she's been doing. Then at the 9pm visit last night, she started trying to talk to me and Mama. She was making lots of noise, but we just couldn't make out what she was trying to say - she was a little chatter box (we thought we heard her either say Mama, Mama or night, night at one point). I wish I knew what she was trying to tell us - I just have this feeling that it won't be long.....

Her stomach also started growling. Mama and I were all leaned over in her face trying to figure out what she was telling us and then her stomach went to roaring - I don't know what we were more excited about! I know it sounds crazy, but we haven't heard her stomach growl in over 6 months (since the morning of her wreck when she was complaining that she was so hungry that her stomach was going to eat itself)! Jodie has been small her whole life, but has always had an appetite like you wouldn't believe! So she's "hungry and thirsty", as always. I just pray she keeps putting on the weight and eating like she has been - please pray for that also....

She had another great day and at the 1pm visit this afternoon, she was released from ICU into a regular room. She held our hands and made more noises like she's trying to say something to us. They brought in food and Mama fed her and she ate good. After the roar of last night, she was ready to eat. She's back in room 439 South (the same room as before her surgery). Mama is spending the night there tonight to be with her.

Ya'll, she looked so good today and yesterday. You can just feel the radiance of excitement from us. Please pray that Jodie will continue to have good days and pray for healing of her injured brain. Jodie is still fighting to recover, as her healing comes from God.

He is listening to our prayers - He has a plan and His way is perfect.

blessings,
jennifer
