Just wanted to let you all in on some exciting news.... Mama called the other night and told me she was putting Jodie on the phone - so after a few seconds I hear a deep whisper (in a familiar voice that I haven't heard in quite a while but have been praying to hear) - and it was Jodie on the other end whispering loud to me "I love You". I was in a store shopping when it happened and when I found Hiram (my husband), I called Mama back and she put Jodie on the phone and she told him, too. Mama called my other sister Beth and did the same thing - only when Jodie told Beth it was more than a loud whisper - it was more of a louder tone, more like her trying to actually speak it out loud rather than just able to whisper it!! She also called our brother, grandmother, dad and other friends and family members and Jodie told them "I love you". She has definitely been spreading the love!
Mama has been working with her a lot lately on saying that and Jodie has been able to mouth it to us but this was the first time we have heard any sound with it.
We are all very excited about our special holiday gift from Jodie and wanted to share the news with everyone.
Please continue to pray for her recovery and that we hear more words from Jodie in the coming days, weeks and months. This may just be the break-through we have all been praying so hard for!
Wish you all a blessed New Year!

That's so amazing! I'm so proud of her! I wish that I were in Jackson when Jodie was. I would have loved to have seen her. I was still in Destin with my parents. Lisa and I are planning a time to come to Greenwood to see her. We'll let ya know. Please tell Jodie, the next time you talk to her, that I love her and I'm proud of her!
My first blog participation. Couldn't be a better occassion. Jodie's family is one of those special families. A good friend of mine, professional, wonderful athlete, wife has as much going for her. Their first child is a most wonderful person, now a freshman in college. Then came the twins. The boy, is much like his Dad. Strapping young man, the daughter has the mental capacity of a 5 year old, I believe. They are 16. My friend was obviously down during the first year or so they were having to deal with it. I told him, that he and his wife are obviously special people in God's eyes. God knew it would take parents such as them to properly raise and nurture the child.
The same is true with Jodie and her family. You folks are truly blessed.
